She Wrote Me Letters So I Wrote This Song

y'know what readers??
your lack of comments may have something to do with my lack of posts!!!
juss kidding.
wow. 32 followers!
i'm shocked. when did that happen?
Well I guess I should welcome my new readers:

Welcome everyone. Have fun reading about my mundane fashion choices and creepy obsession with Savage Garden.

My lack of posting is simply due to my lack of material. Sadly.
I have news though!!!
I started attending college again. It's community college but it's really fast paced and foreign.
But the campus is chill so no big deal.

I also got a financial aid return check for the first time EVER. It is seriously sweet and it has come in handy. This means lots and lots of thrifting, trips to MAC, getting the sweetest hat from American Apparel, and 2 pairs of Celeste Stein tights that I have been pining for. Oh and some other junk on ebay I've been meaning to buy.
All of which I will post pics of as soon as I stop being lazy.

This post is more for updates and less about cool stuff. Sorry. I just didn't want anyone to think I wasn't posting anymore.
I read lots of blogs but fail to update my own. lame, i know.

a couple photos to keep you interested.

South by South Wizard: Saturday

Caught the end of Telepathe's set at Urban outfitters.
They had two dancers performing during there set.

I spotted Carrie Mundane of Cassette Playa dancing near the side of the stage.
After Telepathe's set was over I introduced myself to Carrie. She was so friendly and cool. I told her I was a fan of her clothing line and that she was one of my favorite designers. She told me to send her an e-mail so we could keep in touch.

I walked to Red House Pizzeria and caught Marcus Rubio and the Gospel Choir of Pillows. This was the first time I had seen them perform outside of San Antonio.
I absolutely adored all the songs they played. I also enjoyed how enthusiastic all the band members were.

Then I went to Waterloo Records with Sarah and Sofia. They wanted to see the Bird and the Bee and I wanted a ride.

I ended up walking to the Austin Convention Center and chilling in there. I killed time walking down 6th street and Red River. I was waiting to see Tinted Windows.
They played a free concert at the Bat Bar. The show was thoroughly entertaining. Tall people even moved out of my way so that I could get a better view.
But all I saw was a very sweaty Taylor Hanson. Oh and I little bit of James Iha and Bun E. Carlos. I really like that song "Kind Of A Girl".

I headed over to Beauty Bar and proceeded to wait. I waited for Slim Twig's set. I met two girls waiting outside Beauty Bar that were Slim Twig fans AND from San Antonio!! (small world)

We were able to perfectly hear and see Slim Twig from outside the Beauty Bar. But I still wish I could have been in the club to see his set. It looked pretty epic even from afar.

Then I waited after his set to take a picture of him. We chatted for a bit and then he posed for a Polaroid. My camera failed so I used my digital camera as a backup.

I hope his drive back to Canada goes well.

Sarah and I also said goodbye to our house guests. We had three guys from Brooklyn staying with us. Brian, Bob, and Scott were pretty nice dudes. Maybe our paths will cross again one day.

South by South West: Friday

i had to wake up early.
early bird gets the twig.

i waited for over an hour to see Slim Twig. I wasn't able to get into his first show of sxsw. It was a 21+ gig and required a badge or wristband. I didn't qualify for that show. But I waited and waited and good things come to those who wait. I was able to hear a little of his set and see him through a window. Then he and his band exited the venue and I caught him on the way out. I asked to take a Polaroid with him and he agreed. He also said I might be able to catch his next set. Negatory. That one was open to the public, but also 21+. Some random guy on the street snapped our picture. I thanked him and told him my name before I walked away. He told me his as well (Max).

While I was waiting outside I randomly ran into Paul Griffiths of Baby Cakes clothing.

And then I saw Christopher Drew of NeverShoutNever....again. I asked him if I could take a Polaroid picture of him and he posed for one. Then he gave me a hug and we parted ways. What a sweet boy.

I went into Emo's after that for NO reason.

Then I decided to head over to see his next show. It was at Headhunters at 4pm. I thought that if I went early I might have a better chance of getting in. Nope. I waited around for a while and then walked over to where I saw Max and his buddies standing. I told him that they wouldn't let me in the club. He asked if I had tried the back door. I said no but that I saw them carding. He then asked me if I wanted him to sneak me in. I declined because he had told me previously that he would only be playing two songs at that gig. I told him that I'd much rather see his showcase at Beauty Bar on Saturday. Then I proceeded to ask him any and every question I had on my mind. He was very nice and answered every question I asked. I thanked him and went on my way to Waterloo Records.

I walked from 8th and Red River to North Lamar.

Telepathe played a short set at Waterloo Records.
They were really nice girls. They had on these sweet Cassette Playa t-shirts. I asked them where they got the shirts from and they told me that Carrie Mundane herself gave it to them.

South by South What!? Year 2

Spring Break is supposed to be relaxing.
Mine is very scheduled and tiring.
Going to bed late.
Waking up early.
Eating when I have time.
Holding when I need to use the restroom.
All to get what I want.

Wednesday was a bit of a let down but the coming days are more promising.
So far I've missed Turbo Fruits twice!!
I have yet to see Telepathe.
I saw Slow Club last night but missed there set at Red House Pizzeria today :(
My friends and I attempted to see a lot of bands but were turned away because we were not of age or didn't want to fork over the money.
When I plan on seeing a show for free I don't intend on paying.

I did pay for my entrance into the American Apparel Flea Market today. It was nuts! There was hipster threads everywhere and it was sooooo hot!
On the bright side they were playing Fever Ray's "When I Grow Up".
I got some good deals. I bought a t-shirt that changes color with my body heat for $5 and a black fleece cape for $15.
I didn't want to spend more than $20 on clothes this week and I stayed at my limit.

People we met/saw today:

Slow Club

Le Castle Vania

Kap Bambino

Christofer Drew [NeverShoutNever]

Abe recognized him and prompted regina to get a picture with him.

Johnny Whitney [blood brothers, neon blonde, jaguar love]

We stumbled onto a Jaguar Love show at the back of Beauty Bar. I remembered that Johnny was in the band and we waited to take a Polaroid with him.

I'm tired now. I have my fingers crossed that I will be able to see Slim Twig at least once tomorrow.

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

San Antonio will try and crush you. And once you leave you can never return. Things are not the same when you come back.
It makes you realize how good it is to be gone.

Spring Break 2009 is upon us. And by us I mean every school in Austin, Texas.

In a few days I will be attending any free/all ages show I can get in. I only plan to spend money on food and the American Apparel Flea Market that's going on for most of the week.

Updates from me are few and far between. That's because there is not much going on.

I spent the weekend in San Antonio. I attended an event called Luminaria. I hung out with my friends. I thrifted for a second. And I realized that the city that gave birth to me will one day be the city that kills me.

You literally have to fight your way out of San Antonio.

I don't know how I feel about posting my SXSW schedule on here. Does anyone really care what shows I'm going to attend?
Also...I don't want to set anything in stone. I might not go to some of the things I plan on attending. Shit happens.

What I did today: Sold clothes at Buffalo Exchange, Bought a kite that looks like an eagle, made rice crispy treats, baked a pizza, spent time with Kelsey, shared laughs with Andrew and Sabra, bought a new cat vest!!!

Tim Roth as Mr. Orange in Reservoir Dogs.
I like his fake accent. He fooled me.
I've seen his new TV show Lie To Me. I like it!
