Transparent Fur

"When I turn twenty-one, I don't want any more of this life. My mother and father will be surprised at the incredible change. It will impress them more when such a fuck-up like me turns good than if I had been a good [daughter] all along. All the past years I will think of as one big vacation. At least it wasn't as boring as schoolwork. All my bad behavior I'm going to throw away to pay my debt. I will change when everybody expects it the least."

Oh My Gawd Shoes!

I am on a quest for a great pair of shoes.
I want them sharp and black.
I want them with buckles and straps.
I want them studded and spiked.

My current shoe inspirations come from....

Update Up To Date

you know that you need to update your blog when your close friends start mentioning to you that "you haven't updated your blog in a while..."

well my computer is on the fritz and I've been so busy with projects at school.
so there isn't much time for updating.
even now i should be preparing for an exam tomorrow instead of blogging.

the last show I went to:

Jason Castro (and Michael Castro) @ Texas A&M College Station

It was a great show! He played songs from Idol as well as his own songs he wrote before he was on AI and then some of his newer songs. He also played a Spanish song for his parents and played his cover of Ray LaMontagne's cover of the Gnarles Barkley song "Crazy".
His birthday was three days before the show so a member of his band brought out a cake and the whole audience sang him Happy Birthday.

His brother Michael was a great opener and had some very entertaining banter.

I also got to talk with my friend Isaac who goes to school at A&M and was the one who bought me my ticket. I had a pretty good seat at the show.
My parents drove me all the way over there and waited in the car. I'm very grateful that my parents put up with this stuff.

Other things I've done in the past week:

Finished my costume sculpture (pictures will be added soon)

Started an Etsy store called Knitted Bliss 88 (which will only sell sweaters)

Started a Slim Twig Fan Club on Myspace

Filmed scenes for a music video I'm making (to be premiered at the Sorin Reel Film Festival)

Learned some new signs in Sign Language Club (more specifically the colors)

Wishlist:

CDG black cardigan with red heart please!

black silk bow tie

South by South Wizard: Saturday

Caught the end of Telepathe's set at Urban outfitters.
They had two dancers performing during there set.

I spotted Carrie Mundane of Cassette Playa dancing near the side of the stage.
After Telepathe's set was over I introduced myself to Carrie. She was so friendly and cool. I told her I was a fan of her clothing line and that she was one of my favorite designers. She told me to send her an e-mail so we could keep in touch.

I walked to Red House Pizzeria and caught Marcus Rubio and the Gospel Choir of Pillows. This was the first time I had seen them perform outside of San Antonio.
I absolutely adored all the songs they played. I also enjoyed how enthusiastic all the band members were.

Then I went to Waterloo Records with Sarah and Sofia. They wanted to see the Bird and the Bee and I wanted a ride.

I ended up walking to the Austin Convention Center and chilling in there. I killed time walking down 6th street and Red River. I was waiting to see Tinted Windows.
They played a free concert at the Bat Bar. The show was thoroughly entertaining. Tall people even moved out of my way so that I could get a better view.
But all I saw was a very sweaty Taylor Hanson. Oh and I little bit of James Iha and Bun E. Carlos. I really like that song "Kind Of A Girl".

I headed over to Beauty Bar and proceeded to wait. I waited for Slim Twig's set. I met two girls waiting outside Beauty Bar that were Slim Twig fans AND from San Antonio!! (small world)

We were able to perfectly hear and see Slim Twig from outside the Beauty Bar. But I still wish I could have been in the club to see his set. It looked pretty epic even from afar.

Then I waited after his set to take a picture of him. We chatted for a bit and then he posed for a Polaroid. My camera failed so I used my digital camera as a backup.

I hope his drive back to Canada goes well.

Sarah and I also said goodbye to our house guests. We had three guys from Brooklyn staying with us. Brian, Bob, and Scott were pretty nice dudes. Maybe our paths will cross again one day.

South by South West: Friday

i had to wake up early.
early bird gets the twig.

i waited for over an hour to see Slim Twig. I wasn't able to get into his first show of sxsw. It was a 21+ gig and required a badge or wristband. I didn't qualify for that show. But I waited and waited and good things come to those who wait. I was able to hear a little of his set and see him through a window. Then he and his band exited the venue and I caught him on the way out. I asked to take a Polaroid with him and he agreed. He also said I might be able to catch his next set. Negatory. That one was open to the public, but also 21+. Some random guy on the street snapped our picture. I thanked him and told him my name before I walked away. He told me his as well (Max).

While I was waiting outside I randomly ran into Paul Griffiths of Baby Cakes clothing.

And then I saw Christopher Drew of NeverShoutNever....again. I asked him if I could take a Polaroid picture of him and he posed for one. Then he gave me a hug and we parted ways. What a sweet boy.

I went into Emo's after that for NO reason.

Then I decided to head over to see his next show. It was at Headhunters at 4pm. I thought that if I went early I might have a better chance of getting in. Nope. I waited around for a while and then walked over to where I saw Max and his buddies standing. I told him that they wouldn't let me in the club. He asked if I had tried the back door. I said no but that I saw them carding. He then asked me if I wanted him to sneak me in. I declined because he had told me previously that he would only be playing two songs at that gig. I told him that I'd much rather see his showcase at Beauty Bar on Saturday. Then I proceeded to ask him any and every question I had on my mind. He was very nice and answered every question I asked. I thanked him and went on my way to Waterloo Records.

I walked from 8th and Red River to North Lamar.

Telepathe played a short set at Waterloo Records.
They were really nice girls. They had on these sweet Cassette Playa t-shirts. I asked them where they got the shirts from and they told me that Carrie Mundane herself gave it to them.

Your Dreams And Your Hopeless Hair

I was watching the music video for Savage Garden's song "Crash 'n' Burn" and I noticed that at the end of the song Darren signs the lyrics instead of singing them, then the words "Communicate Any Way Any How" appear on the screen. I thought it was a really cool message he was sending.

Then I thought it would be really cool to become a sign language interpreter at concerts.

So today while I was running errands at the grocery store I thought to myself "how cool would it be if I heard a Savage Garden song on the speaker system" and sure enough "The Animal Song" came on. I started smiling because I couldn't believe the coincidence.
As I was exiting the grocery store I saw a couple communicating with each other through sign language. I stared at them for a bit just to make sure I understood what they were doing.

I took these coincidences as a sign.

My hair is getting longer and longer. I still have not cut it and maybe I should.
I'm trying to get back to my original hair do' from childhood. Here is my hair inspiration!

It's kind of ridiculous right?!

Future Husband:

Slim Twig as "Billy Zero" in The Tracey Fragments
Wasn't he just a little asshole in that movie.
I would marry the Billy Zero that existed in Tracey's mind :)
He was this totally awesome guy who becomes her savior and then when she really gets with him he's a total douche. Ugh! I know how that feels.
